obama is a fool, it will be awesome when his dumb ass is voted out.
To FamousDave2186: Live on what you earn??? Contrary my friend! In socialism, people are encouraged to work, not only to consume and make some bad-quality corporations LIVE ON WHAT THEY EARN… Capitalism does that, not socialism. If you will check the bible again you will also see that it is AGAINST LAZINESS, DISCRIMINATIONS, AND ALL THE RICH PEOPLE WHO BUILD THEIR FORTUNE BY USING THE PROLETARIANS…
Socialism will never support laziness, but we stand also for the rights of the poor people, (unlike others) who should have access to health care or civil services too. Long life equality and power to the people! (If you don`t believe what I said about the bible, check at James 5:1-6, or just read more about the ideas of Jesus)
i think obama is a socialists just from what hes trying to do but the people arent going to stand for it we are starting to see is the younger and my generation are starting to go to socialism we must start teaching our kids the constitution agin and learning it frontwards and backwards what has happened to the usa??????????????????????????????
mmmm pizza sounds good
Anyone that can’t see that Obama is a socialist is blind by the corruptness he and his friends have told America since 2007.
socialist – Taking the hard earned money of others and giving it to underachievers.
yep obama is a socialist.. anyone that doesn t see that is a dumbass !
If you cant see Obama is a socialist than you are retarded,
“If you had a whole pizza, and your friend had no pizza, would you give him a slice?”
Probably. Yeah, I’d give a piece to my FRIEND. I wouldn’t give a slice to every person in the restaurant. Especially not the creepy drunk guy who sits in the corner booth every day.
word
@TheAsexualHermit What if some stranger was starving? would you give him a slice? what about somebody dying who has no healthcare? is a few bucks in taxes more important than a strangers life?
@pimpingfools Good Argument, McCarthy. way to back up a unfounded claim with facts. and if your response is going to be about healthcare reform being socialism: Google socialism. There are no/will never be government doctors. Its always gonna be private-sector.
@omnitool I don’t pay taxes fool
@omnitool
The doctors technically wont be the private sector anymore when theres no more private insurance companies to pay them. That is, when government IS the only provider of insurance left, the doctors de facto work for the government.
FURTHERMORE, any time you take from one to give to another for “social/economic/ecological justice,” what your doing is redistributing the wealth which is socialism.
@cameltoejoe69
A)That scenario would only happen if gov’t health care worked better than private health care. which everybody here is saying its not. coverColorado isn’t better than normal insurance. but its necessary for those who would die without it (like my mom)
B)This argument is pointless since the public option was removed from the healthcare overhall long ago. (no gov’t health insurance)
C)No. socialism is govt employees making a product/providing a service. (like cops and firemen)
@omnitool
YOU DONT NEED the public option to get to single payer! Thats why Congressman Kucinich flip-flopped his vote after Obama took him on the Airforce 1 flight. Obama explained to him that if you make it impossible for insurance companies to turn a profit, you essentially run them out of business, leaving the government 2 choices. 1) become the insurer, or 2) take OVER the insurance companies. THATS what this bill does!
@omnitool
And that scenario WILL happen sooner or later because insurance companies are presently operating at ONLY a 3% profit margin, and NOW they can’t deny coverage or cap benefits. Its pretty much allowing people to purchase insurance for a car thats already been wrecked! Either the insurance companies will go out of business, or doctors will stop accepting insurance patients and go to cash because they wont get paid enough for their services.
@cameltoejoe69
That’s a pretty slippery slope. Insurers have huge profit margins. a little regulation won’t kill them. Dropping people when they get sick; refusing to pay for services; all of these cold-blooded tactics that us liberals are pissed off about: These are all relatively new tactics. Health insurers were operating fine before that. True, they turned a BIGGER profit when they were unethical. but their business isn’t dependent on sketchy business practices.
@cameltoejoe69 also, I didn’t know about that conversation and would like to read more; could you provide your source?
@cameltoejoe69 Doh! I refreshed this page before you posted this.
If what you say is true, and health insurance is only profitably through unethical business practices, than your providing an argument for socialized health insurance: The same is true for Fire and Police services. there is no profit there, but it is necessary. and that’s why we have socialized fire/police.
@omnitool
No what I’m saying is that we’re demonizing companies that are making a relatively LOW profit margin compared to other companies (Pepsi posts 18% profits, Oil 16%). WE CAN provide better health insurance polices in the private market WITHOUT unethical practices if we change the current regulatory structure which doesnt allow national health insurance competition.
@cameltoejoe69 I agree with you there. but I thought that was included in the reform bill. I don’t know for sure (and googling hasnt been that efficient) but I vaguely remember mccain telling obama interstate health insurance is important and Obama agreeing. If its not included than I think it should be. but even so, (and this is just opinion) I think it would help, but only marginally.
@omnitool
Actually Obama said it was included in the bill, but when you go through it, theres NO PROVISION for portability of insurance companies! You still cant buy health insurance from another state unless your from that state. You underestimate its effect because there are hundreds of companies nationally, but only 4-6 per state that you can buy from so they have a monopoly on the market!
@omnitool
Furthermore, if you deregulated what benefits the insurance companies have to provide (mandated by each state), you could get personally tailored coverage at a cheaper cost!
