Governor Linda Lingle of Hawaii was interviewed by Rusty Humphries on December 20, 2008. She repeated the incorrect statement of the Associated press when asked about Hawaii Health Director Dr. Chiyome Fukino verifying that Obama was born in HI. Dr. Chiyome Fukino stated: “she and the registrar of vital statistics, Alvin Onaka, have personally verified that the health department holds Obamas original birth certificate.” The Associated Press then reported: “State officials say theres no doubt Barack Obama was born in Hawaii.” These two statements are not equivalent.
