Michelle did not comment that Obama was born in Kenya. She said that it was his homeland. Homeland does not mean the country of birth. Both presidents Kennedy and Reagan called Ireland their homeland.
Obama has already proved that he was born in Hawaii by showing the official birth certificate of Hawaii.
Hawaii does not and did not in 1961 allow a birth certificate to be issued that says on it “born in Hawaii” unless there was proof that the child was born in Hawaii. Obama’s official birth certificate, the Certification of Live Birth, says on it “born in Hawaii” and the the two top officials of the Department of Health of Hawaii and the governor of Hawaii have repeatedly confirmed that the facts on the document–that he was born in Hawaii in 1961–are accurate.
Obama’s Kenyan grandmother did not say that he was born in Kenya. She actually said that he was born in HAWAII.
This is what the National Review has to say about the Kenya myth:
“The theory that Obama was born in Kenya, that he was smuggled into the U.S., and that his parents somehow hoodwinked Hawaiian authorities into falsely certifying his birth in Oahu, is crazy stuff.”
Crazy because after all, if a child were born in Kenya, someone would see the child and his family on the way back to Hawaii, and it would be stupid to lie about him being born in Hawaii in the face of such evidence. Crazy because a child cannot get from Kenya to Hawaii without a US travel document such as a visa on a foreign passport or the issue of a US passport to the child in Kenya or the change of his mother’s passport while in Kenya to include him—and any of those would have required application documents that still would be on file and would have been found by now. Crazy because there is evidence that Obama’s mother did not have a passport in 1961. Crazy because IF she had had a passport, she would not have gone to Kenya while she was pregnant (too risky, lots of stillbirths at the time); she would have waited until after she was pregnant (when she could have brought the child with her to show to her inlaws).
And finally, crazy because the official birth certificate of Hawaii says he was born in Hawaii, and the two officials of the DOH say he was born in Hawaii, and the Republican governor of Hawaii says he was born in Hawaii, and his Kenyan grandmother says that he was born in Hawaii, and there is even a witness who recalls being told of his birth in Hawaii in 1961 (
